For most of you these songs, A Whole New World, The Circle of Life and Hakuna Matata, would not only bring back fond childhood memories but also hold a very special place in your heart. Well, the lyricist behind these well known Disney films, Sir Tim Rice, joined in Conversation with Clayton!

The 3 time Oscar Award winner gave us and Clayton Bjelan some insight into his incredibly successful career. Sir Tim Rice also shares with Clayton whether or not he knows if he has a hit song on his hands during the writing process he undertakes.

Throughout his teens, Sir Tim Rice wrote a parody music magazine to keep himself amused but it was his inherent love for pop music that brought him to pursue songwriting after finishing school.

Listen in as Sir Tim Rice explained how it’s the music that inspires his lyrics and the inspiration for the music always stems back to the underlying story.

“Usually you’re writing a song to tell a story, and if you tell a story as well as you can, and bring out important elements of the characters when writing for a show or film, then sometimes a good song just emerges.”
