Leroy heads off for a few weeks
Main article content
You are probably aware by now that coming up on Tuesday (9th of May) I have to face the reality of Open Heart Surgery. A number of weeks ago I was Diagnosed with a congenital heart disease called a Bicuspid Aortic Valve. Here is a Snap Shot!
So the nuts and bolts of it is, I missed out of the Mercedes Benz logo! Not happy as you can imagine. This has been an issue for me since I was born – I just had no idea till recently when my breathing was a little off and my blood pressure came back over 200. When you are born with a valve like this sometimes later in life it can start to either narrow or leak.
Enter Stage left Open Heart Surgery! My valve has a severe leak and needs to be either replaced or repaired, you can imagine hearing that for the first time drops you down a few pegs. The first few weeks of this journey was definitely the hardest. Here I am 36 years old, never been in hospital before and now i’m faced with one of the biggest surgeries there is. God calls us to draw near to him in times of struggle but when you are going through uncharted waters it’s easier said than done.
It’s funny looking back I remember the first conversation I had with my Cardiologist. She asked my if I did much exercise? I proceeded to tell her that I trained for and ran a half Marathon last year. She looked at me after the examination and said “You actually shouldn’t be here, you’re a walking miracle – How on earth is it possible that you are still with us”? It’s right then when I knew that God had not only been looking after me but had also been working behind the scenes getting my body ready for what was to come.
I don’t mind telling you that this has been one of the toughest seasons of my life and there have been times when I have had my doubts. It doesn’t last long though as God always finds a way to remind me that he is still there carrying me through the rough waters. It’s honestly been like a modern day version of Foot Prints in the sand.
Jerimah 29:11 says – For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
I just wanted a chance this afternoon before I depart to thank YOU the Light FM family for your Prayers and support through this time. I know that on Tuesday God will be walking with me through 4-6 hours or surgery but I also know that The Light FM family will continue to offer Prayers and Support.
Tracina will be looking after your drive home while I’m recovering! She’s all types of Awesome – You will love her!
