When it comes to travelling tips for seniors, Lisa Scerri from Mission Travel suggests, “With the right attitude, the world is their oyster”.

There are many great travel offers for the more mature traveller, including discount airfares with some airlines, making for a comfortable journey on those long-haul flights. Most airlines also offer assistance as required, such as wheelchairs and golf carts to transport through airports. Airports often have a chaplain available to reassure the anxious traveller.

Tour companies offer trips designed for more leisurely travel, scheduling stops of 2-3 nights where travellers can enjoy the sights at a less hurried pace.

Mission Travel has specifically designed a mission trip for seniors, set to take off in 2013. They have recognised that although their more mature travellers didn’t keep up with their younger travelling companions, they still have so much to offer. The new itinerary allows seniors the opportunity to get alongside those who are less fortunate and perhaps share the wisdom of their years.
