To wrap up our Open House series on ‘The Human Condition’ we put our very own Leigh Hatcher on the psychologists couch to have his personality read by clinical psychologist Lyn Worsley. After exploring three of the four personality types (compliant, influenced and the steady types of people) this week we will examine the dominate personality, otherwise known as ‘the big picture thinkers.’
These big picture thinkers are very intuitive and quick decision makers and can see and understand the perspectives of the people around them and then be able to lead these people forward. Lyn explains there are 13 different characteristics of a dominant personality ranging from being very confident, direct and forceful to change orientated, adventurous and competitive. Lyn says the dominant person takes on two temperaments of being both relational and task driven with the ability to keep the two very much in balance and is why you can find these types of people in roles of leadership or organisational leadership driven careers.
When Leigh took to the couch we saw his dominant personality come to life, with the two discussing how to further develop our personalities to become well rounded human beings. Lyn Worsley talks in-depth about each characteristic trait of this personality type noting Joshua from the Bible to be a dominant person due to his ability to have a mass amount of people do as he said and follow him, along with modern day figures like Donald Trump and Margaret Thatcher.
