Watching John Carter for the first time is guaranteed to give you the same feeling you got when you first sat down and watched Star Wars or Lord Of The Rings, it is the kind of film that you want to be able to tell your grandchildren you saw in the cinema... it is that epic and is guaranteed to become a classic.

Ben McEachen joins Leigh to discuss two films, Carnage and Safe House. Despite two all star casts, only one really came across as a hit.
Nine year old Oskar lives in New York with his caring mother (Sandra Bullock) and energetically loving father (Tom Hanks). He has Asperger’s (which is on the Autism spectrum), and his father sends him on "missions" to encourage Oskar to talk to strangers.
Ever wondered what a modern and thoughtful Australian comedy would look like?
If you are like me, you grew up with the Muppets. It could have been with the original 1970’s variety show on television, films like The Muppet Movie and the delightful The Muppet Christmas Carol. Or maybe you (and your kids!) are fans of their educational cousins Elmo and Big Bird. Well they’re back in a new movie, titled simply The Muppets. Jason Segel (How I Met Your Mother) is a star and producer of this family film.
Movie review: Surviving Georgia
Thursday, 13 October 2011 by David A Griffiths
With the massive amount of American movies that hit our screen each week it’s only natural (if lamentable) that sometimes the smaller Australian movies get pushed to the side. But Surviving Georgia is one Australian film – shot right here in Melbourne – that deserves to be taken a good look at.

Sometimes a film comes along that really does
have the power to challenge the way we think. The new film Higher Ground is one such film.
Movie review: Tornado Alley 3D

Remember when docos were those boring things
your science teacher would put on to avoid having to teach? It’d often be some
old guy speaking in mono-tone about a subject that only he would really care about.
Well – that is all about to change because the new IMAX doco Tornado Alley just made documentaries
cool!
Movie review: Lion King 3D

It’s hard to believe it was 17 years ago that
we all lined up to see a cute little lion called Simba… while singing along as
Elton John’s hit from the musical pumped out of the radio. Disney have chosen
to re-release The Lion King in 3D, but whether you are
willing to pay the big bucks to go and see a 3D film or simply wait a few weeks
for the re-release of The Lion King on DVD/Blu-Ray… well the
choice is all yours.
Movie review: Smurfs 3D
Thursday, 15 September 2011 by David A Griffiths
Smurfs 3D is one of the most anticipated films of 2011. But does it work... or does it simply ruin a family favourite?
I’m not sure who was more excited about going to see Smurfs 3D: my niece (aged 11), my nephew (aged 8) or me (aged 31). The Smurfs hold a special place in my heart... a nice flashback to childhood – watching them before going to primary school each day and remembering Dad picking up the figurines from the service station whenever he filled up the family wagon. And for that reason I was also nervous: had Hollywood taken a childhood memory and destroyed it in a bid for the almighty Big Screen Dollar? I wasn’t sure if I was ready to see that Smurfs fairytale shattered... not yet.
