Melbourne's Night Alive

Sharon Witt talks Bullying

Bullying is an ongoing problem that continues to make kids feel unsafe and insecure. Sharon Witt, our very own kid-whisperer from the Ken and Lucy show, joins Jesse to talk about bullying. What are the signs your child's a bully or being bullied? Why won't kids tell adults about it? What can you do to help alleviate the problem? What could happen if you don't? Bullying isn't just something that happens to kids but it happens all the way up to adulthood as well. So listen in and learn how to approach the sensitive topic.

Third Day Joins Jesse

Third Day's David Carr came onto Melbourne's Night Alive to tell Jesse everything about their new album coming out soon, Miracle.

Their latest single, I Need A Miracle, was "an eleventh hour miracle in itself" where the band had already thought they finished their album until the record company asked them to make some more songs. It was then that they heard an amazing story showing them the power of God through their music and through the radio.

Bali...in Melbourne?

In Melbourne's Night Alive, we're keeping up with the Joneses...or trying to, at least. Those Joneses have got themselves lost in some remote corner of Melbourne, and it's up to the Light FM listeners to find them.

Listner Zeph, however, seems to have his geography a bit muddled...

Stalker Suitcase

You're travelling, you're tired and you just want to collapse for the night in your hotel room...oh no! Your suitcase! You completely forgot about it!

Luckily, Jess found a suitcase that now connects to your phone via bluetooth and will follow you on its own! So if you really did just arrive at your hotel room when you remember your suitcase, just turn around and it will be there waiting at your heels!

Is this handy or just a little creepy? Listen in and decide for yourself!

Catching Up with Cody from Luminate!

Jesse got to catch up with Cody from Luminate to talk about the life of a travelling muso and their second album coming out, Welcome to Daylight. Jumping from timezone to timezone and handling all the jetlag in between, Cody lets us in on the demands of such a hectic lifestyle and what he tries to do to stay healthy. Also, don't miss his insight into their new album coming out with everything from their writing process to the logistics they had to deal with to get it all recorded!

Calorie Counting Vending Machines

Vending machines are tempting, aren't they? They give us little snacks and drinks for just a gold coin or two... But what if they ruined that magic by telling you what you're really trying to buy? Coca Cola are fighting back against public anger against their sugary, high calory drinks with their newest idea: calorie counting vending machines. They're rolling them out to let people know how many calories they'll be drinking from each can that they buy but Jesse's wondering if that's really enough to deter us! Listen in to hear what vending machines should really do to keep us from buying their delicious insides!

Budget Barrier Reef

Technology's amazing, isn't it? Google maps is letting you take your family on a holiday whenever, wherever! All you need is a computer and some internet! You can even take it underwater in the Great Barrier Reef...but Jess can see a downside of this, especially if parents catch wind of it! How can this tool be used for evil? Listen in to find out.

Name Your Nickname!

Jesse's just found a great YouTube video done by someone on our webteam, Stuart! That's right, it's Stuart - not Stu and definitely not Stuey! He's originally a Brit and when he first came to Australia, he was confused about why everyone shortens or lengthens other people's names! So Jess goes on the hunt for nicknames. There's only so much you can do with Jesse but there were some great nicknames rolling in from the phones and SMSes. Listen in and see how your own nicknames compare!

Under A Minute

Get your timers ready, Jesse's got a few time tricks up her sleeves to help keep your house in order! If you drag your feet whenever you need to clean the house or do your chores, this the show for you! Whether it's the clothes, the garbage or your bills, Jess has got it all figured out to help you do those chores. Listen in to get a spoonful of Jess' brand of sugar.

A Land Down Under

We can be pretty strange folk here in Australia but probably not as weird as tourists think we are...

Jess found some real questions people from overseas have asked about Australia that shows just how upside down they think we are. Which way's north? What do we celebrate here? What do we speak here? What kind of wildlife do we have here? And just because we can, we've given them all sorts of answers that aren't likely to help their confusion!

Listen in to find out what image we're really projecting to the world!
